In UOI, students read many books on different leaders. We did a bus-stop activity where they had to answer few questions i.e. what were the beliefs and values of your leader? How did they make an impact on the society? What attributes of learner profile did they show? Students watched a video about "leader in  me". They reflected how can one nurture their own leadership skills by taking small actions. Students looked at quotes by famous people followed by a classroom discussion. I n Math, "money" was introduced to students.  They were divided into 5 groups.  The teacher kept fake notes on the carpet and asked the students to collect it. Then they had to count in groups how much money did they collect in total. We have set up a small shop in our class so that students can get a first hand experience in estimating, purchasing and making budgets. In UOI, we started our last unit, "LEADERS". For the provocation, students were divided into four groups and saw the following videos on Krishna, Hanuman, Pied piper and Robinhood. They were asked to share the story before the whole class, in their respective groups.  Chalk Talk Activity - Teacher wrote 5 prompts and put them in 5 different places in the class. The students had to go and write in each prompt regarding their respective videos. Students brainstormed about leaders as a whole class. Our wizz kids came up with the words for leaders. In Math, we continued with division. Students created their own word problems and solved it.  Students were divided into 5 groups and were given mixed bag of 6 word problems (all the 4 mathematical operations). They had to discuss with their group members and solve each problem using different strategies. In English, students did a recap on "noc

This week in UOI, we focused on the third line of inquiry i.e. uses of energy. Our tech savvy kids did research about it on the Ipads.  We finished with all our assessments this week. We are eager to start our last but not the least unit, "Leaders". In Math, we introduced DIVISION through a play. The teacher called out a number and the students had to create a group with that number. They had lots of fun during this activity. Students were divided into groups and shared beads with their friends equally and wrote down the left over beads in their Math notebook. Students got dryfruits/ fruits/ veggies from their home. The task was to divide the food items equally into groups and eat the left over. It was an individual task. Our students enjoyed this thoroughly.
